Celebrated children’s author Michael Rosen has given a special audience to a group of Haverhill schools.
Mr Rosen visited Castle Manor Academy last week to speak to students about his life and books.
He also took part in a question and answer session before visiting Coupals Primary Academy where he met primary school pupils from both Coupals and Place Farm Primary Academy.
Sheree Reilly, assistant headteacher at Castle Manor Academy, said: “It was an absolute delight to welcome Michael Rosen into school.
“It was wonderful to host children from the local primary schools alongside our students. “Michael performed many of his well-known poems, encouraging audience participation from children who knew all of the words – with ‘Chocolate Cake’ a clear favourite.
“Children and adults alike were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet the poet himself at the end as he autographed copies of his many books. It was certainly a day to remember for everyone involved.”
Michael Lewis, deputy headteacher at Place Farm, said: “We were so lucky to secure a visit from Michael Rosen, alongside Coupals Primary Academy, for pupils in Years 5 and 6.
“It was a fantastic and memorable opportunity for pupils and we would like to say a huge thanks to all those staff involved who worked so hard to make this happen.”
A former Children’s Laureate, Mr Rosen has written more than 200 books for children and adults.
