Junior Road Safety Officers – September 2022-September 2023

Congratulations to our Junior Road Safety Officers for achieving their gold certificates of merit based on their work and efforts last academic year! We are immensely proud of the four children that represented our school and their contributions to raising awareness for keeping our roads safe!

This academic year, our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) will be busily promoting and ensuring that children and parents are made aware of how to keep safe on the roads (not only when travelling to and from school) but also when using the roads around the community. They will achieve this by sharing key messages for the children on the JRSO school noticeboard and key messages for parents on the school’s newsletters.

Leading up to Halloween, the Junior Road Safety Officers will visit classes around the school to advise them of the dangers on roads at Halloween to keep children safe whilst trick and treating. They will also introduce a Halloween competition!

Throughout the course of the year, we will be liaising with the crossing patrol – Steve- and we will relay messages to staff and pupils alike in order to ensure children arrive and leave safely from school.

Here is a message from Steve:

I absolutely love being the crossing control at Place Farm at the start and end of the school day. Please can I remind everyone to be aware of silent, heavy vehicles approaching on Crowland Road and also to get off your scooters and bicycles when crossing the road. It is also crucial that you stop, look and listen at all times when crossing the road.
